Born in Mato Grosso do Sul, the poet Sérgio Medeiros lives in Florianópolis. He is a scholar, visual artist, playwright, and essayist. He translated the Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya Kiché. Medeiros’s ethnopoetics is inspired by the native traditions of Brazil and by modernist writers such as James Joyce, about whom he has also published scholarly works.
