Douglas Diegues (b. 1956), a poet of Brazilian and Paraguayan ancestry, has developed a unique poetics based on contact-zone of the so-called Triple Frontier, the borderlands between Uruguay, Argentina and  Paraguay and on his interest in the hybrid language known as “Portunhol” (a mix of Spanish and Portuguese, interspersed with Guarani). Diegues is also a publisher and founded the Cartonera publisher Yiyi Jambo in Asunción, Paraguay, in 2007.
